Before you get to painting the furniture, you need to start by removing all the dust and grime from over it. For that, you can use a mild detergent and wipe it down using a cloth and let it dry completely.
After that sand the surface using a 220-grit sandpaper and wipe off all the dust. If there are any damages, use wood filler to repair them and use the sandpaper again to smooth them out. Follow the below steps after that.
Start by choosing a high-quality brush to apply the primer evenly over the furniture’s surface.
Let it dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
After it has dried completely, apply the paint in thin and even coats.
Again, let it dry properly before applying the second coat of paint.
Next, apply a clear coat such as varnish to protect the painted surface from scratches and moisture.
Before applying the top coat, just ensure that the paint has dried properly. And that’s it. I hope this helps.
