My house's steel siding was recently painted, and I hired a professional to complete the work. Observing him at work made me realise that the process is actually pretty manageable and not as tough as it seems. Considering what I've seen, I have shared how to paint steel siding on a house.
What is the Process of Painting Steel Siding on a House?
First, he cleaned the siding thoroughly. He used a pressure washer to remove all the dirt and old paint. Then, he looked for any rust spots. Sanded these areas until they were smooth and applied a primer that helps stop rust from coming back. This primer was key to ensure the new paint would stick well.
Once the primer dried, he started painting by using Asian Paints Apcolite Premium Gloss Enamel, which is a good-quality exterior paint designed for metal.
The painter applied it with a roller, starting at the top and working the way down. This way, he avoided drips and got an even coat.
After the first coat dried, he added a second coat for a more durable finish.
Finally, he checked everything and did some touch-ups where needed. The whole process was very smooth and the siding looked great when he finished.
