Hey there, we had a wooden table that had worn out. So, we thought of getting it painted. As the table was already painted, we were a little doubtful about the painting process. We called a painting professional who helped us understand how to paint already painted wood furniture. I have shared the complete steps for the same to help you out.
How to Paint Already Painted Furniture?
Begin by cleaning the wooden surface. You can use a damp cloth to wipe the surface. Then, switch to a clean and soft dry cloth to wipe and remove the moisture.
After that, sand the surface. You need to use light-grade grit sandpaper first. The intention is to create a solid base for the new paint. You don’t need to remove all the previous paint. Focus on making the finish clean, such that the surface has no flaking or loose regions.
Then comes priming the wooden furniture. You can use a roller or paintbrush for this. Apply one coat of the primer. Once the primer dries, sand the surface again for smoothness.
Clean the surface with a vacuum to remove dust using a rag soaked in rubbing alcohol.
You are ready to paint the surface now. You can apply a couple of coats of paint, giving each coat sufficient time to dry before moving on to the next coat.
This is how to paint wood furniture that's already painted. I hope you find this useful.
