Wondering, how to paint wood windows interior? By following the right steps, prepping the surface, choosing the right paint, and applying it carefully, you can achieve a smooth, professional finish that enhances the look of your windows. I can share the steps that were followed while painting my wooden window’s interior.

What is the Process of Painting Wooden Window Frames Interior?

  • To start painting, transfer the paint into a bucket and dip a high-quality 2"–2½" wide nylon/polyester brush into it.

  • Starting at the top, paint the inside of the window frame. Tap off extra paint by pressing it against the bucket's interior wall to stop drips. Keeping neat lines and a polished finish can be greatly improved by following this easy advice.

  • Reload the brush as needed to retain a wet edge and keep painting until the inside frame is finished. This method guarantees an even coat and lessens the likelihood of obvious brush marks.

  • After finishing, wait for the paint to completely dry before adding another coat, if necessary.

I hope this helps you understand how to paint wood windows interior.

Why Use Primer Before Painting Wood?

Last year, just after the rainy season, I realised that my wooden window interiors require a fresh coat of paint. I needed to learn how to paint wood windows interior to protect them from rot.

Let me share the steps that I followed;

How to Repaint Wooden Windows?

  • Prior to painting, the wooden surfaces must be prepared. Therefore, I started by sanding the window.

  • After sanding, I applied a wood primer as it increases the durability of the paint job and ensures better paint adhesion.

  • When painting a door, I used a small roller for the larger sections, and a brush for the more intricate areas. Stroked upward to prevent dripping.

  • Followed by adding the second coat of paint. However, before adding the second coat to the windows, I strictly adhered to the drying times specified on the paint tin's back.

You can reuse your brush and roller for your next coat without having to wash them if you simply store them in a plastic bag to keep them moist between coats.

  •  Before opening and closing a freshly painted window or door, give it time to completely dry.

You too can follow these steps to paint wood windows interior. I was happy with the result, and can assure you will be too.
