It was my daughter’s birthday last week, and she was headstrong over getting zig zag painted walls for her playroom. My sister suggested I contact a NoBroker professional painter and get it done quickly. I booked their painting service and got the work done right before her birthday. I observed them paint the wall, so I am sharing the steps below for your reference.

Wall Zig Zag Painting: 6 Steps for a Chevron Pattern

A zig zag pattern is a series of V-shaped lines, commonly known as a chevron pattern. Follow the steps below to understand how to paint zig zag stripes on a wall.

Paint Your Main Wall

Paint the entire wall first with a colour of your choice. In my case, I wanted it to be in rouge shade. You can put tape all around your wall to ensure you cut clean lines with your other walls.

Tape Your Pattern

Make sure you line up your design properly with the edges of your wall with the tapes.

Vertical Lines

Tape vertically centre on the wall in a way that the middle of the tape should coordinate with that of the wall. The professionals measured the first half of the wall and divided the length by the width of the chevron + width of the tape.

Horizontal Lines

They divided the height of the wall with the height of the pattern. In my case, it was 8", but they made some adjustments by shifting them by 2".

Diagonal Lines

You need to join the vertical lines with a tape after you mark the diagonals. This can get lengthy because you need to be careful on your taping. They started from the centre vertical and then, put the tape on the marking, after which, they went in diagonal to the next vertical tape.

Paint the Pattern

Finally

, they painted the main colour of the wall on the tape. This sealed the tape to the wall. Then, they painted the chevron with flamingo, my daughter's favourite shade of pink.

Hope these steps help you understand
