How to polish terrazzo floors do it yourself?

Vacuum the Floor:

Before getting started, it is essential to make sure that the floor is free from dust and debris. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dirt and dust from the floor before you begin polishing. You can wipe it down as well.

  Strip the Floor:

Depending on the condition of the floor, you may need to strip the terrazzo floor. This is especially important if the terrazzo floor is covered in a sealant or wax. To strip the floor, use a terrazzo floor stripper and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Also do take the necessary precautions before starting the work.

  Clean the Floor:

After stripping the floor, it is time to deep clean the terrazzo. Use a terrazzo floor cleaner and a mop or rag to clean the floor. Ensure to evenly spread the cleaner onto the floor and scrub the floor in a circular motion.

  Rinse the Floor:

After deep cleaning the floor, use a mop and bucket of clean water to rinse the floor. Make sure to remove all the cleaners from the floor.

  Apply the Floor Polish:

Now it is time to apply the terrazzo floor polish. Use a terrazzo floor polisher and spread the polish evenly on the floor. Allow the polish to dry for around 15 minutes before buffing it.

  Buff the floor:

Use a terrazzo floor buffing machine to buff the terrazzo floor. Move the machine in a circular motion and buff the floor until you get the desired results. Buffing can also be done manually, but it will take a lot of effort and time; hence, it is better to use a machine instead.

  Seal the floor:

Sealing the terrazzo floor is essential to ensure that it is protected from stains and dirt. Use a terrazzo floor sealer and apply it to the floor. Allow the sealer to dry before walking on the floor.

This is how the terrazzo floor polish is done. To ensure that the terrazzo floor stays in top condition, it is important to regularly maintain the floor. Regularly vacuum or sweep the floor and mop it with a terrazzo floor cleaner. Additionally, re-seal the floor every few years so that it lasts long.
