My house needed repainting, as it was overdue for quite a long time. I planned to take it up as a DIY project. As I was not aware of the right steps, I started doing some research on how to prep a house for painting interior and paint it. So, if you are trying to learn about the steps, then you can check them below.

How to Prep Your House for Interior Painting?

Start by cleaning the wall properly. You can use a mixture of dish soap and water and use it to wipe the walls. Here’s what you do after that.

  1. Next, check your walls properly for any cracks, indentations, etc. You can fix them using wall putty to repair them.

  2. After that, choose the type of paint you need. I went for satin paint, as it was something that I had always wanted.

  3. Following that, determine the amount of paint that you might need. For that, find the paintable area first and proceed accordingly.

  4. Now, sand the wall properly using sandpaper with 100-150 grit. Wipe the entire wall with a damp cloth to remove all the dust.

  5. Use painter\'s tape and drop cloth to cover your bookcases, furniture, lamps, etc.

  6. Choose a good primer and apply it on the walls. Wait for it to dry, and if necessary, apply a second coat of primer.

And that’s it. This is how you will be able to prepare your house for interior painting. I hope this helps.
