You might have thought that your clothing was safe within the closet, but this is not true. During the rainy season, mould happens in it and damages the closet, just like it does to your walls. I discovered fungus on the left side of my cupboard just 2 years ago in Bangalore, and I was not pleased with it. I was confused about how to avoid fungus in wardrobe, so I called my mother and asked about it. She said some solutions to stop a mould infestation in closets include baking soda, white vinegar, and even a bag of rice.

How to Prevent Fungus in Wardrobe?

Unfortunately, like me, you may not have thought about how to prevent mould in built in wardrobe but you should. When mould happened in my closet, I asked my mother about it. She gave me the following hacks to prevent fungus.

Using a Bowl of Baking Soda

To avoid a mould outbreak, she advised me to put a bowl of baking soda in my closet. She suggested taking off the clothing and letting the baking soda sit for three to four hours for the best effects.

Use a White Vinegar Spray

According to my mother, mould that has already grown can be removed with a solution of white vinegar and distilled white water.

To get the best outcome, she instructed me to take every item out of the closet, dip some of the solution into a cloth, and then gently wipe the area in a circular motion.

Using Uncooked Rice

She also mentioned that a bag of rice might minimise humidity in closets with high moisture levels in the air.

I finally used white vinegar, and it really worked. I hope you get an idea of how to prevent mould in wardrobes.

How to Clean White Wood Furniture?

Hi, I live in a rented 2 BHK in Marathahalli and recently saw mould in my flatmate's clothes. It was due to the formation in the wardrobe, which she failed to pay attention to. To avoid the same happening to my wardrobe, I searched for how to prevent mould in wardrobes. I found some really easy methods regarding it. You can prevent mould in wardrobes by improving ventilation, increasing exposure to natural sunlight and more. Let me tell you about them.

How to Avoid Mould in Wardrobe?

Here are some ways to prevent moulding in wardrobes:

  1. Natural Light: A great way to prevent mould formation in your cupboards is by letting the sunlight enter the room. It helps prevent mould growth significantly.

  2. Ventilation: Another thing that mould hates is a well-ventilated environment. So, ensure that you keep the airflow going in and around your wardrobe. If you are on the lookout for purchasing new wardrobes, choose one that promotes air circulation.

  3. Baking Soda and Chalk: A simple way to keep mould away from entering your cupboard and attacking clothes is by placing moisture absorbers. Two examples I can remember include baking soda and chalk. You can keep them in the wardrobe in bowls.

  4. No Plastic: To avoid mould, you must look for other storage options instead of plastic bags. Plastic tends to trap humidity around your clothes, leading to mould growth.

  5. Keep Clean and Dry Things: Dirt is the friend of mould. You should act and clear out your wardrobe, only storing clean and dry items.

This is how to prevent mould in built in wardrobe. I hope you now know the process.
