What is anti termite construction?

Anti-termite treatment is a chemical process used for soil, masonry, wood and electrical fixtures. This method provides a chemical barrier against the subterranean termites or wood-nesting termites before and after construction.

How to prevent termites in new construction?

There are a few steps which must be followed for anti termite in construction:

 
  1. The bottom and sides of the construction should be treated with chemicals.

  2. The backfill in immediate contact with the masonry foundation or retaining wall must be treated with chemicals at the rate of 7.5 L/m2. 

  3. Chemical treatment should be carried out in each layer.

  4. Treatment should be carried out in voids in the joints of the masonry.

  5. For RCC foundations, treatments should be made 500m below the ground level.

  6. With a rate of 5 litre/m2, chemical emulsion should be used in the flooring.

  7. After the construction of the building, holes of a depth of 300mm should be dug at intervals of 150 mm and chemical emulsion should be poured.

  8. At the top surface of the consolidated earth chemical emulsion at the rate of 5 litres/ m2 should be poured to avoid termite infestation.
