It's essential to know how to save plants from insects, for maintaining the plants' well-being and productivity.
How to protect plants from bugs?
Here are some efficient ways to keep off bugs:
- Handpicking:
Inspect your plants frequently, and personally to get rid of any bugs you see. Put on gloves and remove pests including caterpillars, beetles, and aphids. To stop them from coming back, drop them into a jar of soapy water.
- Neem oil:
An all-natural and powerful insect repellant is neem oil. Spray it on your plants after combining it with water as directed on the packaging. Many common horticultural pests' feeding and reproduction cycles are disturbed by neem oil.
- Beneficial Insects:
Introduce beneficial insects to your yard, such as ladybirds, lacewings, and parasitic wasps. They preserve a natural equilibrium by feeding on dangerous bugs.
- Insecticidal Soap:
Use insecticidal soap to get rid of soft-bodied pests like mealybugs and aphids. These soaps are made specifically for plants. For safe and efficient use, adhere to the product's label directions.
- Homemade Sprays:
Make your own insect-repelling sprays at home by combining dish soap and water with substances like garlic, and pepper. These can be used as a natural deterrent by spraying them on your plants.
- Companion Planting:
When planted next to one another, certain plants can help keep pests at bay. For instance, marigolds can deter aphids and whiteflies. Find out the best companion planting techniques for your particular crops.
- Barrier Methods:
Physical barriers like row covers and mesh nets can protect your plants from flying insects and pests. These can be particularly useful for crops like tomatoes and strawberries.
- Healthy Soil and Plants:
Maintaining healthy soil with proper nutrients and watering practices can help plants withstand pests. Healthy plants are less attractive to bugs.
- Regular Pruning:
Remove damaged or diseased plant parts promptly. These areas can attract insects and serve as breeding grounds.
- Clean Garden Tools:
Sanitize your gardening tools to prevent the spread of diseases and pests from one plant to another.
You can follow these steps on how to protect the plants from insects.
Remember that a combination of these methods may be necessary, depending on the types of pests and plants you are dealing with. Regular monitoring and proactive pest management are key to keeping your plants healthy and bug-free.

Top 5 Effective Ways: How to protect plants from insects
The heart really shatters into pieces when you take care of your plants and suddenly out of nowhere insects attack the plant and it dies. I love having plants on my terrace and always make sure that the insects are not attacking my plants. I have been using these methods for more than 5 years so I think I can answer the question, how to stop insects eating plant leaves better than anyone!
How to remove insects from plants?
Manually remove the bugs
The first thing you need to do if your plant is affected by insects is to remove them. The best way to remove insects is to use your hand and remove them manually. Wash every part of the plant with jet spray and remove the dirt. Your plant will remain healthy. You can also use soft cotton cloth to wipe off the fungus gently from the stems or underneath the leaves.
Remove the Affected Area
If one part of the plant is affected chances are other portions will get affected too. You can cut the portion affected by insects to keep your plant healthy. If you don't cut it the whole plant will get affected and it will die.
Spray Insect Repellent
I don't like using insecticides or other chemicals that can harm my plant. So, I use natural home remedy for insects on plants and spray them to protect my plants from insects. This is a great remedy for ants too in case you are thinking about how to protect plants from ants. Well, I use garlic or neem leaves in my water and spray it on the plants. Insects get irritated by these two ingredients therefore, I feel this is an amazing option. Neem oil spray is also effective.
Keep Insect Repellent Plants
Since mint leaves, rosemary, and marigold have a strong smell they help in preventing attacks from the insects that can damage your plants. You must also have these plants since these plants attract the good insects which help in spreading pollen which is required for the plant to grow gracefully while these plants also keep the harmful insects away from plants. Insects like the ladybug, mantis, hoverfly help in the production of pollen.
Check your plant
You must check your plants from time to time. The biggest mistake is to ignore checking your plants. I tried growing a cotton plant once in my house but my plant died due to insect attacks just because I failed to check up on it. Therefore, I would request you to keep checking your plants every day.
