Wondering how to put ceramic tile on bathroom floor? Let me tell you that it can be a DIY task. However, it is better if you hire a professional to get this job done. I’ve recently hired professionals to install tiles on bathroom floor, so I can share the steps that were followed.

How to Install Ceramic Tile Floor in Bathroom?

Prepare the Surface:

Make sure there is no debris and the floor is dry, clean, and free of dirt.

Space Arrangement:
  • Determine the bathroom floor's measurements and design the tile arrangement.

  • To guarantee uniform tile spacing, use tile spacers.

  • Without using any adhesive, dry lay the tiles to check fit and make any necessary modifications.

Apply Adhesive:

Follow the manufacturer's directions for mixing thin-set mortar. Apply the adhesive evenly over a small area of the floor using a notched trowel.

Install the Tiles:
  • To provide strong adhesion, gently twist each tile as you press it firmly into the glue.

  • To keep the distance between tiles constant, use tile spacers.

  • To make sure the tiles are even and flat, use a level to inspect them.

Cut tiles:
  • Measure and mark any tiles that must be trimmed to fit around obstructions like pipelines or corners.

  • For accurate cutting, use a tile cutter or wet saw.

Grout the Tiles:
  • Before grouting, let the adhesive cure in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

  • Blend the grout until it has a uniform texture.

  • Press the grout into the crevices between the tiles at a 45-degree angle using a grout float.

  • Using the float's edge, remove extra grout.

Clean Up:
  • After the grout has cured for ten to fifteen minutes, use a moist sponge to wipe the tile surface.

  • Regularly rinse the sponge and replace the water as necessary.

  • Before stepping on the floor or taking a shower, let the grout have the recommended amount of time to cure.

Grout Sealing (Optional):

If you want to keep your grout free from moisture and stains, especially in a bathroom, you should seal it.

If you're unsure about any step, don't hesitate to seek advice from a professional or refer to additional resources for guidance. I hope this helps you understand how to lay ceramic floor tile in bathroom.
