When I first moved to Delhi for my new job, I got quite confused about how to read water meter reading in Delhi. So I had to go through a few months of trial and error, I finally figured out how I can check my water meter using the physical water meter available outside my home or even do it easily online if I know my credentials.
How to Read Water Meter in Delhi?
I started by finding my Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water meter, which was typically located in a little concrete box outside my house. Since the lid can be a little heavy, the first step was to carefully open it. I found the meter face with multiple dials and numbers inside.
I learnt to read the reading from left to right, and it is shown in kilolitres (KL). Whereas the smaller numbers imply litres, the larger values indicate kilolitres used. For example, I have used 1,730 kilolitres of water since the last reading if the dial reads 1730 KL.
Additionally, I learnt that DJB also offers a website where I can view my meter readings. I can view my current reading by entering my K number and logging into the
DJB RMS
portal. This has proved to be really helpful and efficient, especially when I'm unable to physically see my meter or I am busy.
You can check for more details on the DJB official website if you want more thorough instructions. It is very important to keep an eye on how much water you are using, not only for financial purposes but also to make sure you’re not wasting water needlessly.
