How to remodel a basement?

There’s a lot that goes underground. Since you have a basement I am sure you must be aware that a basement if not maintained and re constructed on a regular intervals can invite nightmarish things. I say this from a lot of experience considering what we faced in Kurseong. We have a property that comes with a basement and it wasn’t maintained for years. It turned into a den of reptiles and all creepy creatures. When we found out, we decided on basement remodeling. I can share a few things from our experience to help you out.

• Waterproofing is must for walls and ceiling of the basement

• Have a good lighting arrangement. Keep provision for windows and natural sources of light along with installation of drop ceiling lights and other choices

• If it remains cold and damp in your basement, I would recommend avoiding too much wood work. Instead go for rust and moisture free material to build storage space

To remodel a basement, you will have to perform the following steps:

• Clear out everything in your basement

• Do a moisture test and check for all the electrical connections 

• Go by the local authorizations and permissions before making any plans and changes to avoid conflict later on

• Call in professionals to help you out with design and start with the work

• You’ll need a fresh painting job too

• Once done, you can get pest control done to ensure no pests make their way into your basement.
