• Seal off the work area with plastic sheeting and create a containment area to prevent asbestos fibres from spreading.

• Workers must wear specialised PPE, including masks and suits.

• Dampen the asbestos material to minimise fibre release during removal.

• Remove insulation carefully, minimising breakage.

• Place asbestos waste in labelled, airtight bags for proper disposal.

• Thoroughly clean the area and conduct air monitoring to ensure safety.

So this is the process followed for the removal. It seems easy but is not and it demands utmost care and devotion to avoid any hazardous accident.

• Wet the floor with water 

• Pop open the tiles with a hammer and putty knife

• Cut the floor sheeting in section 6" wide sections

• Scrap off the asbestos from the tile with a razor scraper.
