Everyone, including myself, anticipates my washing machine to provide a certain degree of cleanliness for my clothes. My washing machine stopped doing this all of a sudden, so I contacted the electrician to find out why. He informed me that the washing machine's rubber seal, which surrounds the appliance, is dirty. I then asked him for advice on how to clean the rubber on washing machine. He shared with me the easiest way to clean my washing machine rubber.

How to Clean Washing Machine Rubber?

Cleaning the rubber seal of a washing machine of filth is not too difficult. Let’s check out the easiest hacks on how to clean rubber of washing machine:

  • To begin, fill a spray bottle with an equal proportion of water and vinegar.

  • The rubber seal should then be gently scrubbed, paying close attention to areas that have stains or filth, using a cloth or sponge sprayed with the solution.

  • After you have wiped the seal completely, remove any remaining moisture with a fresh cloth or paper towel.

Alternatively, you can follow the tips to clean the rubber seal mentioned by Somnath above. Furthermore, allowing air to flow and keeping the washing machine door open between cycles inhibits the growth of mold and mildew. I hope you got an idea of how to clean the rubber in washing machine.

I live with my family, so our washing machine sees a lot of action every week. However, last week, it was smelling funny. So, I asked my father to check it once. After the inspection, he told me that the issue was with the rubber seal on the door. It trapped moisture in the machine and that’s why mildew and mould were growing. He taught me how to remove dirt from washing machine rubber seal that day. Here’s the process for the same:

Things Required
  • Washing-up liquid

  • A clean towel or cloth

  • White vinegar

  • Baking soda

How to Clean the Rubber in Your Washing Machine: Process
  • First, take 1 cup of baking soda and sprinkle it around the rubber seal inside your washing machine’s drum. After that, run the washing machine empty for a couple of wash cycles. I suggest you do it so in the 90°C setting. This won’t only clean the rubber seal but your washing machine as well.

  • After that, add a quarter cup of water, one cup of baking soda, and two cups of white vinegar into the washing powder drum. Run your machine on the 90°C cycle again.

  • Finally, add the dishwashing liquid to warm water.

  • With a microfibre cloth, wipe down the rubber seal properly with the dishwashing liquid solution.
