Hi there Piyush,

It was just a few months back when I used epoxy paint on my floor tiles. Since I did it for the first time, I wasn’t aware of how to remove epoxy from tile. But luckily my brother knew. He knew quite a lot of methods on how to remove excess epoxy grout from tile and he explained every method to me. So, I am going to tell you each of the methods my brother told me about.

Hire a professional cleaner from NoBroker to deep clean your house and remove those epoxy grouts from your tiles.

How to remove epoxy grout from tile joints?

  • Heat:

Warm the surface with a heat gun if it contains epoxy stains or a layer of epoxy paint. Heat the area for about 60 seconds, or until the coating begins to soften. Carefully scrape the resin from the tile surface with a heat-resistant scraper. Wipe off the tile surface afterward to eliminate any cloudy residue. This procedure works well if the tile surface has a thick layer of paint or globs of epoxy that has been set.

  • Acetone:

Acetone is a simple solution for removing epoxy resin stains from tile. If the layer of epoxy paint has been removed but a hazy layer of residue remains, rubbing with acetone will remove the haze as well as any trace of the epoxy paint. Allow the acetone to soften the epoxy for 20 seconds. You can either rub the stain away or scrape the residue away using a scraper.

  • Sandpaper:

For the final sanding, switch to grade 320. If you don't have access to paint strippers or acetone, or simply want a non-chemical technique to remove epoxy stains, sandpaper may be an excellent option.

  • Sand and detergent:

To remove the epoxy coating, apply sand combined with water and detergent onto the tile surface. This procedure, however, is only suitable for unglazed tiles that can bear friction without scratching.

  • Paint Strippers:

Strip epoxy paints with epoxy paint strippers. These are mainly methylene chloride-based and can be found in hardware and home improvement stores.

I hope now you know enough ways

how to remove epoxy from tile.

Epoxy paint and residue can be tough to remove, but with patience and a little elbow work, you can remove epoxy paint from tile floors and expose a clean, shining surface beneath.
