For a very long time, I ignored the mugginess and the mould that surrounded the walls and thought it would go away with time. But recently, my parents visited home and they suggested that I do something about it before it destroys the walls. I took it seriously and researched a bit on how to remove fungus from wall.

Detergent Solution

Make a detergent solution with the help of lukewarm water and mild detergent. 

Wipe the Fungus

Use a cloth dipped in the soapy water and carefully wipe the fungus off the wall. Don’t brush it as this can release mould spores.

Remove Moisture

Once you're done, use a dry cloth to remove any dampness or moisture from the walls. Then, thoroughly clean or vacuum all the surfaces in the room to remove any remaining spores. 

In addition to following these steps, I realised the importance of preventing the occurrence of fungus altogether. I am also sharing some tips to prevent the formation of mould or fungus in the walls.

• Make sure you always dry up the wet surfaces immediately and wipe up spillages. Don’t forget to dry the floors and walls after you take a shower. 

• Regularly check for humidity level using a moisture metre. The humidity should be ideally between 30-60 %.

• Make sure to inspect the exterior of your house to check for any leaks caused by broken gutters or drain pipes.

• Vinegar and water

If you want to go for a milder and safer option then I would recommend you to use vinegar instead of chlorine bleach. Mix the vinegar with water and dip your scrub or cloth in the solution. Now scrub off the mould from the wall and pat dry the area.

• Lemon juice
