I told my husband not to use harpic to clean our steel basin yet he used to do it. Initially, harpic seemed to work fine and cleaned the basin, but later I realised that the stains on our basin were due to usage of harpic on it. Since I knew nothing about how to clean harpic stains from steel sinks I decided to hire expert cleaners but later decided to do it at home. I followed a series of steps and it worked.

How to remove harpic stains from stainless steel sink?

To remove harpic stains from stainless steel, you must first

  • Ensure good ventilation and wear gloves to protect your hands from chemicals.

  • Arrange white vinegar, baking soda, a soft cloth or sponge, and a non-abrasive scrubbing pad. You can also use some other solutions if you feel

  • Start rinsing the sink with water to remove any loose debris or residue.

  • Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the stained areas.

  • Pour white vinegar over the baking soda. Let it react with the baking soda and help break down the stains.

  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to scrub the stained areas. If necessary, you can also use a non-abrasive scrubbing pad for tougher stains.

  • Rinse the sink thoroughly with water to remove the baking soda and vinegar mixture. If the stains persist, repeat the process.

  • Once the stains are gone, dry the sink with a clean cloth and buff it to a shine with a dry, soft cloth.

This works perfectly fine and I am sure you will love the result too, like I did.

Harpic stain remover is a powerful cleaner that can get rid of different stains from a variety of surfaces. And it is our best friend when it comes to cleaning our bathroom. But I have a steel sink in my washroom and kitchen and I started noticing harpic stains on it a few months back. It was then that I understood that some materials, including stainless steel, are not suitable for this product. A stainless steel sink is prone to acid since it is an alloy. So, I will tell you how to remove harpic stains from steel sinks.

Harpic on stainless steel

The concern is that Harpic contains 10% hydrochloric acid, which means that using it near your stainless steel sink might seriously damage it. Additionally, like any other acid chemical, the longer Harpic sits on the sink, the more challenging it will be to get the stains out.

Harpic is, fortunately, less corrosive than certain other acids. In other words, the stains left behind by this product can be removed rather easily if you act promptly.

How to Remove harpic stains on stainless steel?

1-Baking Soda

Baking soda is the first product we advise employing to erase the Harpic stain because of its alkaline nature. This item is safe to use on stainless steel sinks and is non-toxic.

First, baking soda by itself will work if the Harpic stain is still recent. Simply liberally sprinkle baking soda around the stained area. Before removing it, give the product some time to absorb Harpic.

On the other hand, you'll need to adopt a different strategy if the Harpic stain has had time to sit on your stainless steel sink. Instead of sprinkling baking soda on the problematic region, we advise making a thick paste by combining it with water.

After that, apply the paste to the problem area and give it 20 minutes to work. After giving your sink a thorough rinse, you're done.

2-Powdered Stainless Steel Cleanser

You could try the powdered stainless steel cleanser if the baking soda method didn't work. Despite being somewhat more abrasive than baking soda, it works quite well.

First, thoroughly rinse your sink after washing it with warm, soapy water. Then, using a moist sponge, massage it with a generous amount of the stainless steel powder of your choosing. The final step is to rinse your sink. Your sink ought to sparkle once more.

3-Bar Keepers Friend

Using Bar Keepers Friend is another efficient way to get rid of a Harpic stain from your stainless steel sink.

But because there are several varieties of Bar Keepers Friend, make sure you have Bar Keepers Friend Stainless Steel Cleaner, which is the right one for your stainless steel sink and is available on Amazon.

All you need to do once you have the appropriate solution on hand is wet the damaged surface, spray a sizable amount of this product over the contaminated area, and then rub it with a soft cloth.

You're finished once you've rinsed your sink. You might need to perform this procedure a couple more times if the stain is really old.

I hope I was able to tell you about harpic stain remover and how the stains of it can be removed from steel.
