There are two methods I can suggest on how to remove latex paint from carpet. To tackle latex paint on your carpet, just sprinkle baking soda over the stain, spray a vinegar-water mix, and blot gently until the paint comes off. There is another way you can opt for. Just apply rubbing alcohol, scrub lightly with a soft brush, and blot away the paint.

There are two easy ways that I implement to remove latex paint from carpet. Here they are:

Vinegar and Baking Soda

  • First, sprinkle baking soda over the paint stain to absorb excess moisture.

  • Then mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray the area.

  • Leave it for a few minutes, then blot gently with a clean cloth.

  • You can repeat until the paint lifts.

Rubbing Alcohol

  • Dampen the paint stain with rubbing alcohol.

  • Use a soft-bristle brush to scrub the area gently in circular motions.

Hi there. I can help you learn how to remove latex paint from carpet. I have faced the same issue with one of my carpets. I used dish soap and water to get rid of the paint. I will share the entire process with you below.

How to Get Latex Paint Out of Carpet?

  1. First, use a clean and dry rag to blot the paint stain.

  2. After this, soak a rag in a solution of dish soap and warm water.

  3. Use the rag to wet blot the stain till you see the stain dissolving.

  4. Then, blot the area with a dry and clean rag. You can also use paper towels for this.

  5. Finally, let the spot air dry in its entirety. If the stain can still be seen, use a handheld steamer and hit the spot with it. Continue to blot the surface with the soapy rag till the stain dissolves completely.

How to Get Dried Latex Paint Out of Carpet?

  1. Wear latex gloves, and use a putty knife to remove the extra paint off the carpet. You can also use a utensil which has a hard and dull surface.

  2. Take a spray bottle containing warm water to wet the stained area. Use a white cloth to blot the area again.

  3. Apply paint thinner by beginning at the edges of the paint stain. Do so using a wet cloth. Don’t let the thinner spread the stain. To avoid spreading, take a small area of the paint at a time. Blot the stain slowly and steadily.

  4. After no more paint can be removed with blotting, mix ¼ teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with a cup of warm water in a bowl. Take a white, clean cloth to apply the mix onto your stained carpet. Blot the area.

  5. Take a spray bottle with warm water and rinse the dish soap. Blot dry with a clean cloth. You can repeat the process of applying the dish soap mixture and then rinsing it till all the paint has been removed.
