Hi Buddy,

Do you want to know how to remove name from ration card in Tamil Nadu? I would like to say that, being a resident of Chennai, I am aware that the Tamil Nadu government has converted old ration cards to smart cards automatically.

I have recently helped one of my cousins to remove his name from the ration card. Hence, I would like to share the process.

How to remove name from ration card online?

  • Visit the official 

TNPDS website

 to add or remove a name from your ration card

  • Click "Card Related Service Request" on the right side of the home page, beneath the handy links

  • When you click that link, you'll be given three alternatives, one of which is to

1) Add a new family member

2) Remove a member of the family

3) Address change

Select the one that is most appropriate for the task at hand. My cousin selected the second option and followed the instructions to remove his name from the card.

The documents required for the name removal are as follows:

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Voter ID Card

  • Tax receipt

  • Gas Consumer card

  • Telephone Bill

  • Electric Bill

  • Rent agreement for Tenants

  • Slum Clearance Board Allotment

  • House Document

  • Driving Licence

  • Bank Passbook

  • PAN Card

  • Postal Department ID Card

  • Housing Board Documents
