Hi Karishma, I saw you asking how to remove the old paint from the wall and can help. I used vinegar and water to soak the paint and remove them. So, I can share the process for the same.

How to Strip Old Paint from Walls?

Here is an effective process I used for removing paint from my walls.

  1. Make a solution of warm water and vinegar and transfer it into a spray bottle.

  2. Then, spray the wall with the solution and let the wall be for 15 minutes.

  3. Use a metal painter's tool or a scraper to gently scrape the paint.

I have another method you can use. I was going to try it, but preferred the vinegar one. However, it works just as fine as vinegar. You can use steam to remove paint, too.

  1. First, bring the steam up to the needed temperature by following the manufacturer’s guidelines.

  2. Holding the steamer 6 inches from the wall, move it backwards and forwards over the surface.

  3. Do this for some time and you will observe the paint has started to soften.

  4. You can then scrape it off easily.

This is how remove old paint from wall. I hope this method helps you!

You can try out these techniques for removing old paint from walls;

  • Scrape:

With a single scraper, try removing the wall's flaky paint. Before removing the paint, put on a dust mask and pull the blade with medium-firm pressure underneath the paint in all directions until the wall is bare.

  • Strip:

Use a liquid paint-softening stripper if the scraper wasn't effective or if you want to speed up the procedure. Don your heavy-duty rubber gloves and proceed.

  • Heat:

If you'd rather not use harsh chemicals, consider using a hot gun, torch, or iron. When removing paint, put on a respirator mask to prevent inhaling fumes, and be sure to use exhaust fans to ventilate the space. Waving the heater back and forth will ultimately heat a part of the wall from a distance of a few inches. As soon as it begins to bubble, scrape off the paint with your other hand.

  • Sand:

Scraping and stripping methods call for a good deal of time and some strength. Use a power tool to complete the task. You can use a 40-grit orbital power sander. The sander generates a lot of dust, so cover any surrounding furniture or appliances with a cloth or tarp. Put on a facemask and safety glasses before beginning to sand the wall.

  • Wash the Walls Following Paint Removal:

Put a sponge in a bucket of chilly water after it has been filled. Squeeze out any extra water, clean the wall, and then allow it to dry.

  • Clean Paint Chips and Dust:

Vacuum the area after disposing of the paint chips on the drop cloth.

I’d like to conclude here as I believe this suffices your query about how to remove old paint from walls. I hope this helps:)
