Turn the recessed light bulb counterclockwise to remove it.
Lay a ladder underneath the downlight.
Take off the light trim.
Take out the housing for the recessed light by twisting it counterclockwise.
Flip open the spring clip or unscrew a door to access the little compartment on the bulb.
Turn the wire nuts anticlockwise to disconnect the electrical cables from the light.
To remove the wires from the cable clamp, unscrew the retaining ring.
Insert the wire into the electrical ceiling box from the back.
Twist a wire nut on each wire separately for terminating the connecting ends of the wires.
Use electrical tape to keep the wire nuts in place.
Now, the old-work box should be installed in the ceiling.
A manual screwdriver should be used to screw the blank plate onto the box.
Finally, turn on the circuit breaker to test the circuit.
