We recently installed glass shower doors but didn’t realize the difficulty in cleaning them. A friend had suggested using vinegar solution but this tip didn't work for me, as there was a massive buildup of heavy soap scum, which got tough to clean. Then, my sister recommended a solution, which worked perfectly. So, let me give you a quick guide on how to clean soap scum off shower doors.

How to Remove Soap Scum From Glass Shower Doors?

Vinegar and dish soap solution works well for most of the cases, but if you have heavy soap scum on your glass doors, then you will need a stronger abrasive solution. My sister suggested using ammonia with water. Let me tell you the steps on how to clean soap scum off glass shower doors using this technique.

  1. Before beginning, make sure the bathroom is well ventilated. Then, mix 1 part of ammonia with 3 parts of water, and steam up the glass door surface.

  2. Pour the solution in a spray bottle or you can also use a small bowl. I used a spray bottle for easy application.

  3. Then, you have to use a scrub brush on the surface to gently rub off the soap scum.

  4. After some time, you can rinse the doors with warm water and wipe them off with a lint-free cloth.

This is how to clean soap scum from glass shower doors. My sister also recommended another solution where you have to mix both borax and baking soda, make a paste, and use it to scrub the surface. She said borax is a great cleaner and perfect for tougher stains. I didn’t require it but you can try it if you need.

I hope these techniques will help you clean your glass doors.

How to Remove Soap Scum From Sink?

I totally understand the irritation of dealing with soap scum on shower doors and it can be such a pain. My shower doors used to get covered in that layer, and I started looking for how to remove soap scum from shower doors. I found a vinegar and dish soap solution works really well, and it doesn’t take much effort or any fancy products.

How to Clean Soap Scum off Shower Doors?

Here’s what I do to remove soap scum from glass shower doors:

  1. I mix equal parts white vinegar and grease-fighting dish soap in a spray bottle. After every few days, I spray it generously on the shower doors.

  2. I leave the solution to sit for about 20 to 30 minutes so it can break down the soap scum.

  3. After that, I use a cloth or sponge to scrub the doors and it’ll be very smooth to remove at this point of time.

  4. I rinse everything with warm water and then dry the doors completely using a microfiber towel. This step is important to prevent water spots from forming.

For tougher scum, I’ve added baking soda to the mix, which forms a paste with the vinegar and really helps with the scrubbing. I hope that you got some help from my answer
