Like many other homeowners, I have a wall-mount tap in my house. When one of the taps started leaking, I had to look up how to remove taps from wall online and found a few easy steps to follow. Below is a list of them:

  • Cut off the supply of water from the main valve.
  • Take out the handles of the taps.
  • Take the flange off.
  • Take out the wall-mounted tap.

I have mentioned the detailed procedure for removing the water tap below.

How to Remove Wall Mounted Taps?

During lockdown, we faced a similar problem and that’s when I learned wall-mounted faucets, which are typically fitted in showers and bathtubs are easily repairable. But, let me tell you that if your wall-mounted tap gets damaged, you will need to take it out and install a new one.

The process listed below will make it simple for you to remove wall-mounted taps:
  • You can start the process by cutting off the water flow to the tap.

  • Use a screwdriver or wrench to remove the small screw located beneath the handle.

  • Now, remove the handle of your tap very carefully.

  • Following that, you must remove the flange that hides the wall holes where the taps are installed.

  • You can now see the wall-mounted tap.

  • Finally, make use of a socket wrench to loosen and take out the tap from the wall. For that, you need to spin it anticlockwise.

I also followed the above procedure. I hope you got an idea of how to remove water tap from the wall easily.

Taps might be the last thing in your home that you’d think about breaking but even they have a life cycle, like everything. One of my taps started leaking a few days ago and my father told me that I’d have to remove it if I want to change it. I did not know the process, so, thankfully, my father came to my rescue and taught me how to remove tap from wall:

Turn Off the Water

Turn off the water supply before you start removing your tap. For this, you can use your wrench to turn the shut-off valve close to the bathroom or you can also go down to the main water supply and turn it off.

Remove the Tap Screw

At the front of the tap, you’ll see a small plastic or metal button. It’s the insert. Use your utility knife to pry it off. You’ll find the tap screw just behind it. Now, use your screwdriver to undo the screw and keep it to one side. Remove the metal bolt that you will find behind the screw.

Remove the Handles

After removing the metal bolt, take off the screws on the handles’ sides using the screwdriver. If you can’t find the screws, try to find a connection or bar that supports the handles away from the wall. After that, you’ll be able to pull off the handles.

Remove the Trim Plate

The plate covers the connection between the wall and the tap. Use a flat-headed screwdriver to unscrew the trim plate from the wall and then pry it out of the caulking. This way you’ll be able to pull the plate away from the wall. You can then keep it to one side. You will find a large nut behind the trim plate. Remove this.

Remove the Tap Valve

Remove your wall-mount tap’s valve. Take the socket, and keep it over the valve’s top, pushing into the wall. Turn the socket until it locks onto the valve. After that, turn the valve slowly using the wrench that comes with the socket. Now, just pull it out!

Take off the Tap

After removing the tap valve, take off the remaining parts of the tap. Look for screws holding the tap head onto the wall and remove it using a screwdriver.

This is how to remove tap that is mounted on the wall.
