I am not sure about which is the best way to fill holes in UPVC window frames but I can suggest a few effective ones. You can always use PVC filler, but as an alternative, try using a hard wax filler, epoxy putty or sealant. To fill holes in UPVC window frames, apply hard wax filler for smaller holes, pressing and smoothing it. For larger holes, you can use epoxy putty or a UPVC-specific sealant.

How to Fill Holes in uPVC Window Frames?

There are many ways to repair or fill a hole in the UPVC window frame. Here are the two most effective ways I can suggest:

Hard Wax Filler:

Hard wax filler is the best to repair or fill small holes. It even comes in various colours, so you can match it with your window frame shade easily. You just have to melt the wax using a filler applicator or specialised tool, then press it into the hole and smooth it down with a scraper to get an even surface.

Epoxy Putty or Sealant:

For larger holes, you can use epoxy putty or UPVC-specific sealant. Simply mix the epoxy putty as instructed in the packaging and push it firmly into the hole. You can also consider applying sealant with a caulking gun for smaller holes and smoothing it with a putty knife or your finger. Both options provide a long-lasting fix, so opt for whichever you think is better.

These are my suggestions on how to repair a hole in uPVC window frame and I hope these will be useful to you.

How to Fill Holes in uPVC Window Frames?

Here's my step-by-step guide on repairing a hole in a uPVC window frame:

  • Cleaning and Preparation:

First, clean the area around the hole thoroughly to remove any dirt, debris, or loose pieces of uPVC.

  • Choosing the Right Filler:

You should also select a high-quality filler specifically designed for uPVC repairs.

  • Mixing the Filler & Filling the Hole:

Then mix the filler by following the manufacturer's instructions to mix the filler properly. Then using a putty knife or similar tool, carefully apply the filler to the hole, ensuring it completely fills the gap.

  • Sanding and Smoothing:

Once you see that the filler has dried completely, use fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any unevenness.

  • Applying Primer:

Then apply a thin layer of primer specifically designed for uPVC surfaces.

  • Painting:

Once the primer is dry, use a high-quality uPVC paint that matches the existing colour of the frame.

  • Finishing Touches:

In the end, carefully remove any excess paint or primer using a damp cloth or fine-grit sandpaper.

And voila, the holes will vanish. These are the simple steps on how to repair screw holes in uPVC windows.
