How to repair bathroom tile grout?

The grout lines between the tiles of my bathroom had turned black and were cracked in various places as well. I wanted to get rid of them but did not know how to repair bathroom tile grout. To learn about that, I started researching online. From my research, I learned that to fix the grout, I needed to remove the grout using a utility knife.

After that, you can also use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of the debris and clean the area. Now, mix the grout and use it within 15 minutes. Here’s what you need to do next. 

• Use a rubber grout float and apply the grout. You can also use your finger for this, but be careful while doing so. 

• After applying the grout, wait for around 15 minutes to let it dry. 

• Now, Use a clean and damp sponge to remove the excess grout from the surface. 

• Following that, wait for around a week until the grout has dried completely before stealing it. 

And that’s about it. I followed these exact steps to repair the grout in my bathroom. I hope this helps.

• You must begin by thoroughly cleaning the existing grout with a grout cleaner and a stiff brush.

• Just use a grout saw or rotary tool to carefully remove the damaged or cracked grout. Be careful not to damage the surrounding tiles.

• Follow the manufacturer's instructions to mix a new batch of grout. Also, choose a colour that matches the existing grout.

• Use a rubber float to spread the new grout over the tile surface. Make sure to press it into the gaps and fill the grout lines evenly.

• Next, smoothen the grout lines with the float and wipe away excess grout with a damp sponge before it dries.

• Allow the grout to cure, then apply a grout sealer to protect against moisture and stains.

This is how the old grout is removed and replaced with a new batch of grout. You can do it yourself. Just try to follow the steps correctly.

Damaged grout not only becomes a breeding ground for mold and bacteria growth but also makes your tile look old. Luckily, it’s very budget-friendly and easy to repair cracked tile grout. • First, clean both grout and tile using a mixture of water and vinegar

• You can always read the manufacturer’s directions to set the grout perfectly. Let it dry until you see a haze on the tile. After that, use a dry towel to polish the tile.

• If required, you can use a tile cleaner to remove haze and other remaining residues.

• If you are using an acrylic latex grout, you should wait till the grout dries before applying a sealant.

• You can use a tile grout cleaner to keep your old and new grout in perfect condition. If the grout cracks or chips even after you repair it, then it is possible that the tile underlayment is uneven or exposed to moisture. In this case, call your plumber and get the underlayment repaired.
