As it’s a gateway to natural light and fresh air into our homes, it’s important to fix the glass doors. A premium door can offer better performance and durability. When the sliding glass door is not in its best condition, then it’s time you learn how to fix a sliding glass door to get the door back in working order. I had seen my father repairing a sliding door by himself so I know the drill, let me share with you the necessary steps.
How Do You Fix a Sliding Glass Door?
The first step is to lower the door from its track by using an Allen Wrench or screwdriver to turn the adjusted screws counterclockwise. Next is to remove the head stop and take the door off the track.
Apply lubricant to the rollers or replace them if damaged. Also inspect and clean the wheels to make sure they move properly.
Vacuum the bottom track and clean the tracks using alcohol or any disinfectant.
You can also use paraffin wax on the bottom instead of silicone.
Relace the weatherstrip if torn by installing a new one along the edges of the door.
In case the screen door is damaged too, use staples to attach a new screen to the frame. Make sure it's not overly stretched but tight as well.
After making sure all the parts are cleaned, reassemble the door, adjust the rollers for proper alignment.
Voila! It’s done. But I suggest if you are still facing a problem to figure out how to fix a sliding glass door, you should consider a complete door replacement.

For the smooth functioning of sliding glass doors, it is important to know the glass sliding door repair process. But before that, you must figure out if there is dust collection in the slot or any other problem which is hindering its functioning. I have installed glass doors in my apartment so I can help you know the repair process.
What is the Sliding Glass Door Repairing Process?
I will share the basic sliding glass repair steps with you. However, if your damage is much more severe then you must consult a professional.
Firstly, I use a broom to clean up the dust on the track.
Followed by oiling the track, so that it opens and closes smoothly
The track needs to be fixed if it is not straight. I use a piece of wood that is nearly as wide as the track, and it is important to note that the wood must be placed in the track wider than the track.
The curved track can only be fixed in this manner. Next, I hammer the wood clamped between the tracks to facilitate the repair of the curved track.
Occasionally, when I see that the pulley is not level, I take the doors off with a screwdriver and use it to raise or lower the pulley. Followed by reinstalling the doors.
I can assure you that you can fix common problems and get a sliding glass door working again by following these steps. Let me know how these steps helped you in the balcony sliding door repair process.

A few years back, the sliding door in my apartment balcony was making a lot of noise and it was quite hard to open it as well. So, I decided to do the balcony sliding door repair. For that, I watched a couple of videos and completed the steps suggested for sliding glass door repair. Here is how I completed the process.
How to Repair Sliding Glass Door Track?
The first thing that I did was clean the tracks. To clean the track, I used a brush. Moreover, you can also use a Vacuum cleaner to suck out all the dirt in the track. Make sure to lift or lower the glass door using a screwdriver or something similar.
Next, I checked the stop moulding. I removed the stop moulding and checked if the door slides properly or not. To do that I needed to remove the screws attached to the stop moulding and then cut off the caulking.
The final check was about the rollers of the door. For this I removed the door and then inspected the door for any remaining dirt and debris. Then, I removed those and applied a lubricant. I used my fingers to check if the rollers were moving properly or not. As they got worn out, so I replaced them with the new ones. At the end, I put back the door to finish the glass sliding door repair.
I hope this will help you in completing your balcony sliding door repair.

Sliding glass doors makes the house look more pretty, elegant, and it is also cost-effective. I have a balcony in my apartment and I installed sliding glass doors. But the sliding door got a lot of wear and tear as I open and close it many times a day. My door stopped sliding after a while so I decided to fix it. After doing the research I decided to fix my sliding door on my own. So, I will share with you the glass door repair I followed.
How to repair sliding glass door?
- Clean the track
What I have encountered is, at times the sliding door gets stuck due to dirt on the tracks. To clean the tracks we can vacuum them and clean the track with a wet rug. You can also use a small brush to remove the dirt if you don't have a vacuum.
2. Remove the Sliding Doors
To remove the sliding doors:
Check out a place in advance where you can rest the sliding door.
There will be roller adjustment screw cover plugs inside the door. You can remove them with your hand carefully or you can use a flat-head screwdriver.
Turn the screws in the counterclockwise motion and raise the door roller wheels.
You will need someone to hold the door for you. Now remove the header door stop located at the top of the door. You need to turn the screws to remove the header door stop.
Take out the door frame and keep it carefully on the surface.
If your door is damaged you need to purchase a new one and install it. Well, even though you can execute this on your own I would suggest you call a technician and let them do this job. Doors are made of glasses and imagine the door getting shattered while fixing!
You can clean the track on your own but removing the parts of the sliding door without any experience can invite unnecessary risk. This is the process you can follow for sliding door repair.
