Sofas are often the centrepiece of our living rooms, but with constant use, they started showing signs of wear and tear. Earlier I had no clue on how to repair sofa at home. But after research, I found there are several easy fixes you can tackle to restore your beloved sofa to its original show. Whether you're dealing with sagging cushions, stains, or damaged upholstery, using baking soda or thick plywood can transform your old sofa into a brand new sofa.
How to Repair Sofa Set at Home?
Since Malvika and Aaryan have already mentioned a few processes I came across, let me mention some other ways.
Start with a deep clean. If your sofa has removable cushion covers, wash them according to the care instructions, preferably in hot water and air-dry them.
For non-removable covers, vacuum thoroughly, then sprinkle baking soda on the fabric, let it sit for 20 minutes, and vacuum again. This will help freshen up the upholstery.
For sagging cushions, a simple solution is to insert a 1/4 inch-thick plywood or MDF board under the cushions to provide additional support. If your cushions are flat, replace the foam inside with medium-density foam.
To repair small tears, use a curved needle and fine thread to sew the fabric back together.
For larger rips, consider patching with extra fabric or getting creative by adding a vintage fabric patch to give it a unique touch.
If your sofa’s leather is dry, condition it with mink oil or polish to bring back its suppleness.
As I didn’t want to take a risk with my sofa, so I hired a professional to fix it. I hope you understand how to repair old sofa at home.

I had a leather couch a couple of years back. My wife bought it as she loved the colour and its texture. However, it ripped a little due to an accident. I wanted to learn how to fix leather sofa at home as the damage wasn’t as big as to call a professional. Luckily, I found a good procedure. Here is the information you need.
How to Repair Ripped Leather Sofa?
Below is the complete process through which you can repair a leather sofa at home.
The first step is to take a pair of sharp scissors and cut the edges off the ripped area. This will help create a clean edge.
Now, grab your tweezers and a sub-patch. Using the tweezers, insert the sub-patch behind the rip.
Next, take a spatula and apply leather glue in between the patch and the leather. You need to apply some force and press down the leather onto the patch after the glue has been applied well. Leave it until the glue dries out completely.
You now need to use the heavy filler in the rip. This is done to even out the ripped leather with the overall surface so that everything looks level. Start by applying a thin layer and let it dry. You can fasten the process with the help of a hair dryer. Redo this till the time the rip is 75% full. Apply one final layer and smoothen it out using a palette knife.
Take your colourant for the last step. Take a little bit of the product on a sponge and then apply it over the ripped region. Blend it well with the surface. Wait for the first coat to dry before you apply a second. Repeat this process until you’re satisfied.
This is the method to fix your ripped sofa made out of leather. I hope my answer helps you learn how to repair couch leather.

A leather sofa can wear out over the years if we use it on a daily basis. At times our pets or kids scratch the sofa leaving stains or the leather can itself tear down after a while. So to fix this I have some tips for you that I learned from my friend. My friend taught me the process behind old sofa repair made of leather which benefitted me. It's not possible for us to call a repairing guy to fix a sofa at times when the guest comes to us to give a surprise visit. So let me share with you how to repair sofa cover at home.
How to repair leather sofa at home?
To learn how to repair sofa set at home here are some steps I followed, you can also follow these methods.
Firstly cut a piece of cloth by rounding off the edges. Avoid cutting the cloth with pointy edges as it can make undesirable waves on the surfaces.
Now, take a pair of tweezers and insert the patch inside.
Now that you have inserted the patch, glue it down with the leather. If your patch is small you can easily do this. The bigger the patch, the trickier it will get to glue both things.
The next step is to flatten the area that is patched. You can use a wooden plan or a flat-surfaced object such as a dictionary. This would do the job perfectly.
The last step on how to repair sofa at home is to rub it and restore it.
I hope you now know old sofa repair process made of leather at home.
