How to repair wooden stairs?

I will share with you a step-by-step guide on how to repair stairs. 

  1. Remove the carpets. Take a flat bar to remove the treads.

  2. Remove nails, leftover carpet pad and staples.

  3. Screw the stringers by taking 4½ inches screws. 

  4. At the bottom of the tread apply subfloor adhesive. Apply the adhesive top and back of the tread as well. 

  5. Insert three 2 ½ inches screws through the tip of the tread into each stringer.

  6. Insert 2 inches screw through the riser into the back of the tread situated in between the stringers.

  7. Repeat the process for each tread.
