During the COVID lockdown, I saw that my wash basin tap was leaking, and needed to be repaired on an urgent basis. I was also aware that it’s lockdown and I cannot allow any outsider in my home to avoid any risk. This is why I learned how to repair wash basin tap by myself.

  • Gather tools:

You will need basic tools like a screwdriver, a drain plug, a wrench, and a small cloth

  • Plunging the drain:

This and shutting off every water supply valve is the first step in fixing a leaky tap. This will guarantee that no screws or pieces fall down the drain as you finish your work and stop the water from interfering with the repairs or possibly getting worse.

  • Dismantling:

The sort of bathroom fixture that needs to be disassembled to repair a leaky tap will vary. The faucet's handle must be twisted out of position with a wrench, screwdriver, or spanner.

  • Repairs:

Unscrew the faucet's handle screws to start fixing a leaky tap. To locate the screws, you might need to take off the hot and cold adornments. After removing the handles, set them aside and start removing the nut. This is commonly found sitting on top of the washer seat, which is composed of rubber. After removing the nut, carefully separate the washer seat, which is probably fastened to a screw underneath. Thus, after removing the washer seat, install a new one.

  • Reassembling:

The faucet needs to be disassembled and reassembled using a screwdriver and wrench. After finishing this, turn back on the water supply and slowly open a tap. Since all the parts have recently been reconnected, you should avoid turning it on suddenly to avoid any damage.
