Use the sander from top to bottom with light strokes, working in sections across the wall. You will have to use different grit paper to overcome mouldings. To smoothen the surface and remove small flaws, sandpapers with fine grit are ideal.
Finish by removing any debris or dirt still present on the wall. Use a degreaser or wipe using a wet and soft cloth dipped in soapy water.
