I was planning to take up the painting of my house as a DIY project. Following that, I started painting the newly plastered walls, but the painted walls seemed a bit off. So, I gave up the project and hired a painter. After looking at the wall, the painter said that I needed to seal the plaster before painting. Here is how to seal plaster before painting that the painter followed.
How to Seal New Plaster Before Painting?
The painter followed a few simple steps to seal the plaster before painting. He started by inspecting whether the plaster was dry or not. Here is what he did next.
After inspecting the plaster, he prepared a mist coat of paint. For that, he took ten parts paint and mixed it with one part water. He said that the mist coat would act as a primer.
Next, he laid down some dust sheets to cover the floor. Following that, he started applying the mist coat paint on the plastered wall with a paint roller.
After the mist coat had dried, he started applying the top coat on the walls.
And that’s how do I seal new plaster before painting. I am planning to follow these steps when I take up a DIY project next time. I hope this helps.
