How to seal room for AC?

As the summer begins in Delhi, I am planning for sealing room for Air Conditioner (AC). As you know, if the room is not properly sealed, cool air may leak out. It will decrease the effectiveness of AC and make it more difficult to maintain the cooling temperature in the room. Let’s see the steps that I have learnt from one of my friends to properly seal the room for AC.

How to Seal Room for AC?

Before sealing of room, the very first thing you need to know is whether you are using window AC or split AC. If you are using the split Air Conditioning System, then you can simply pack your room by following tips:

• Close all the windows and doors of the respective room. 

• Make sure you don’t have any gaps or cracks in the windows or doors.

• You can also use latch doors to seal your room easily.

1. The AC should be centered so that there is an equal distance between the unit and the window frame on either side. To ensure accuracy, measure both the distance properly.

2. Cut the wooden board into two using Molem Cutter and remove 5 mm off the ends for the gasket tape.

3. From the left to right side of the window frame, calculate the width of the window opening. Four identical ribbon pieces should be cut.

4. Cut out additional 4 tapes of the same length as the wooden board piece.

5. Insert 2 long sealing tape pieces between the window edge and the top of the AC.

6. Shut down the window tight and stretch the ends along the open spaces towards the sides where the wood pieces will be fitted. Insert the other two pieces into the holes on the appliance's underside.

7. The window should be opened slightly so that the two wood pieces can be placed vertically on either side. Position the tape on the sides, top, and bottom. 

8. Push down the window one last time. The AC has been sealed and is ready for use.
