Last week, I stopped a water leakage from the concrete roof of my house. One day, I noticed a wet mark on the interior part of the roof. Immediately, I went to the roof to check what was causing this. There was nothing but a bunch of debris, like leaves, branches, and dirt, in the area. To fix the issue, I called a painter and asked him how to stop water leakage from concrete roof.

The painter arrived at my house and started inspecting the roof. After that, he told me that the debris had trapped a lot of water and because of that; the area had deteriorated, or a crack had formed in the area. Here is what he did to solve the issue.

First, he cleaned the area of the debris and then removed all the stored water.
After that, he applied a patching compound over the area.
Next, he left it to dry for some time.

Just as the monsoon arrives, my worries go sky rocketing. Will there be water leakage from roof? How to stop water leakage from concrete roof? How much would it cost me?

I am clouded with these questions almost every year. But last year, I took the matter seriously and started figuring out reasons for the water leakage and some hacks to fix them. Let me tell you how and what I did.

How to stop water leakage from concrete roof in India?

Before beginning the fixes, I started looking for the reasons. I started off by locating the source of leakage. Apparently, there were some weeds growing around the water tank which got deep rooted making the concrete roof weak.

Next followed this:

I got roof cement and an elastomeric sealant from the hardware store. Then I cleaned the roof and got rid of the weeds. Next, I started filling the gaps, holes and cracks with mortar. I let it dry and then spread elastomeric sealant to reinforce the sealing.
