Hey Pal,

Before the lockdown, I received a job offer from an American company. They had been giving me the opportunity to work from home in the past, but recently they had requested me to come back to the office. As a result, I moved back to America a few years ago. I, therefore, wanted my parents to come and live permanently here with me. My father agreed to come and stay with me and enquired how to surrender electricity connection. Accordingly, I assisted my father at this time to ease his query.

How to close electricity connection?

To permanently disconnect the connection, the customer must first visit the executive engineer's office and pay the processing charge. Processing costs may vary depending on the type of connection.

The Executive Engineer's Office then sends a letter to the SDO office. SDO is instructed to cut the consumer's line and remove the metre in order to file the PD report. Returned to the Executive Engineer Office is the PD report along with the sealing certificate for removing the metre means that the executive engineer office would receive both reports from the SDO office.

The final bill for a customer is computed using the PD report's most recent reading and the metre, which the buyer is required to deposit after the consumer has paid the last bill.

The decision to permanently disconnect the line is made in an office memo. The link would then be removed from the computer's system after that. The department must complete the final permanent disconnection (PD) within 30 days if a consumer requests one. When a request for permanent disconnection is made, the department's officer must make arrangements to take a metre reading, cut the power, remove the metre and cable from the property, and do other tasks.

The department must also provide or send the final bill, which must include any outstanding balances up to the date of disconnection and be received by the customer within 30 days of the request. After the customer has paid, the officer will give them the final bill along with a stamp that serves as a no-due certificate.

I would like to conclude here about how to surrender electricity connection. I hope this helps:)
