How to Measure Viscosity of Paint: Different MethodsThere are several methods to determine the viscosity of the paint and all methods may have 1 or more units of measurement:
Gardner-Holt Bubble MethodThe time required for an air bubble to rise through a quantity of the material in a tube is the Gardner-Holt Bubble Method.
Centipoise or PoiseThe resistance provided by the material to a falling body passing through it, generally a ball of specific weight and size, is Centipoise or Poise (100 poises).
Krebs (KU’s)The measurement of resistance to movement of a device through the paint in a rotary motion (like a fork or a paddle), is expressed in KUs (Krebs Units).
