When I was moving to a new city a few months ago, I had already taken care of moving most of my stuff using packers and movers. But I also needed to transport my bike. Somehow my friend recommended me to use the Indian Railways as it is an efficient and budget friendly way to parcel the bike. So I booked that service, but now I needed to do parcel tracking in train and I didn’t know how to go about that. I hence researched it and found it can be done from the official website of the FOIS.

How to Track Railway Parcel?

I found that tracking my bike parcel with the Indian Railways was a simple process. 

• I got a Parcel Way Bill (PWB) number after I booked my bike for transportation, and this number became my tracking key. 

• Based on the details I found on the Indian Railways Parcel Services website, this number was essential for tracking the condition of my bike.

• I went to the

  FOIS (Freight Operation Information System) website

  to follow the progress of my package. 

• I typed the originating and destination station codes there, as well as my PWB number. I became less anxious about my bike's location because the system gave me real-time information. 

• Although Indian Railways do not provide a bike-specific real-time tracking system, the FOIS portal provides a broad status update. A few days later, I was notified via SMS that my bike had reached the destination station.

• Check the Status: After entering the PRR number, I clicked on the ‘Track Now’ button. The system displayed the current status of my bike parcel, including its location and estimated arrival time at the destination.

By using the PRR number provided in the Parcel way bill or luggage ticket, I was able to easily track the status of my bike parcel and stay updated throughout its journey.
