• Copy of the last paid tax receipt of the property.

• You need to obtain NOC from the previous house owner.
• Address proof and ID proof such as Aadhar card/ voter card/ pan card.

• Go to the electric office and request them to provide you with the application form for the name change.
• You need to submit all the documents I have mentioned above and the application form to the respective authorities of the electric office.
• After the verification of the documents, you may need to pay the required fee for changing the name in the electricity bill.
• After verification, the electric office may send the technicians to verify your address.
• Once the technicians visit your address and verify all the details, the electricity bill name will be changed.

How to transfer electric bill to new owner online in Mumbai?

Since I have lived in Mumbai I will tell you briefly about the electric bill transfer name in Mumbai via online mode.

1. Visit the website BEST to change the name in electricity bill.
2. Tap on “Existing Consumer-change of name & other application”.
3. Fill up all the details required.
4. Submit the scanned copy of the documents I have mentioned above.

• Go to the 'Apply Online' section.

• 'Name Change' should be selected.

• Enter the necessary information, make the necessary payment, and then submit your request.

• The ownership of the energy connection will be changed to your name once the administration has verified all the paperwork and information.

Follow these procedures to update the owner name on your electricity bill offline:

• Bring the completed application form, all the required documentation, and your electricity meter to the nearest BESCOM office.

• To get your documents validated, meet with AE/JE.

• At the BESCOM office, submit the validated documents and the application.

• Receive the acknowledgment slip after paying Rs. 100 transfer charge.

• You might be required to pay Rs. 350 for an indemnity bond, a power agreement, and other fees.
