I booked a parcel service of Indian Railways for bike transport from Bangalore to Kolkata. A two-wheeler can be transported by train via either of two ways. If you are taking the same train, you can book the two-wheeler as luggage. You can book the two-wheeler as a parcel if you are not taking the same train.

The steps to book two wheeler as Parcel are as follows,

• In the event that you are not taking the train, you must book the two-wheeler as a parcel.

• Bring a Xerox copy to the parcel office along with a proof of government identification and the two-wheeler registration certificate.

• Prior to booking, a two-wheeler must be packed appropriately.

• Before packing your two-wheeler, make sure the fuel tank is empty.

• Please write on a piece of cardboard the names of the stations that are the origin and the destination. The text should be readable and unambiguous. It is necessary to secure the card board to the two-wheeler.

• Add the vehicle's registration number, weight, value, and other details to the forwarding note, together with the originating and destination stations and postal address.

You too can opt for these steps, however, from my experience, I realised that this process involves too much hassle.  As you are entrusted with all the responsibilities like packing, bringing it to the originating station and then receiving it.
