How to Transport Bike in Truck?

Hi Jitesh. I have a sports bike and moved it to another city recently. I called packer and mover who transported the bike in a truck. They came with one man short, so I helped them a bit in fastening the bike. I checked that they secured the bike well. So, I’ll be able to share how to transport a bike in a truck. You’d need a ramp and ratchet straps to properly transport the bike. Let me share the steps below.

How to Transport Bike in Pickup Truck?

Here is how you can transport your bike in a pickup truck:

1. You need to set up a ramp to be able to load the bike in the truck. You might need professional help with this.

2. I am assuming you have a double incline ramp. To place your bike inside the truck, just walk slowly with the bike as you move up the ramp. 

3. If you have a single ramp, stay on the ground level and push the bike over the ramp. Have another person hold the bike from inside the truck.

4. Get ratchet straps. To secure the bike, hook one strap through the tiedown anchor in the front left corner of the truck bed.

5. Then, hook the straps’ other end to a solid part of your bike. 

6. Tighten the left ratchet straps a little and hook one to the right in the same manner. Ensure they’re symmetrical in position.

7. Keep on tightening the right and left straps further interchangeably till only a little slack is left on each side.

8. Tie down the back wheel of the bike as well. One strap would do.

9. Test the straps to finish.
