i Ushashi, I recently purchased a bicycle to create a health regime for myself. I thought of transporting the car from the store through my car. So, I’ll be able to share how to carry cycle in car. I have an SUV with foldable seats, so the process was quite simple. I am sharing the complete method to fit the cycle inside the car and transport it below.

How to Carry a Cycle in Car?

Here is the process you can follow:

1. Open the back door of your car. Please remember that I am sharing the steps for an SUV. In case you have a sedan, I recommend you do the process by removing the front wheel and placing it through any of the rear gates.

2. Coming back to the process, fold the rear seats and place the bicycle inside by laying it on its horizontal side, such that the gears point up. 

3. Load the bicycle from the rear wheel first. This will help you at the time of taking the bicycle out of the car.

The best way I feel to carry a cycle in a car is to disassemble its parts and carry them separately in the car. However, you can also go for using a rack. You will need to 

• Bike Rack: Invest in a bike rack that fits your car. You can go for roof-mounted, trunk-mounted, or hitch-mounted racks. These racks are designed to securely hold your bike during transport, keeping it stable and safe.

You can also 

• Disassemble the cycle: If you don't have a bike rack, you can make the bike smaller by taking off the front wheel, pedals, and lowering or removing the seat. This will make it easier to fit the bike inside your car, especially in the back seat or trunk.

In any of the case, just make sure to

• Protect Your Car and Bike: To prevent scratches and damage, use blankets or covers inside your car where the bike will be placed. You can also use wheel bags and frame protectors for added safety. This ensures both your car’s interior and your bike remain in good condition.

• Secure the Bike Inside: Carefully place the bike frame and wheels in the back seat or trunk. Make sure they are stable and won't shift during the trip. Use bungee cords or straps to secure them tightly, preventing any movement.

• Check Clearance: If you're using a roof-mounted rack, always double-check the height clearance. Be mindful of low-clearance areas like garages, drive-thrus, or underpasses to avoid accidents.
