• After pinpointing the source, he said to address it directly. For leaks, he asked to repair any damaged pipes or plumbing issues. If the problem is poor ventilation, improve airflow by installing or repairing exhaust fans and ensuring windows and vents are unobstructed.

• After fixing the underlying issues, I focus on treating the dampness in the walls. I clean the affected areas thoroughly to remove any mold or mildew, using a mixture of water and vinegar or a commercial mold cleaner. 

• Next, as he said, I allow the wall to dry completely, which might involve using a dehumidifier or fan to speed up the process.

• Once the wall is dry, I apply a waterproof primer to create a barrier against moisture.

• After the primer dries, I repaint the wall with high-quality, moisture-resistant paint.
