Hi there,

Being a DIY enthusiast, I love the idea of upcycling old furniture, just as much as I love revamping rooms. Not only does it prevent something unwanted from being thrown away, but the end result can also be a unique and personal addition to a space. A lick of paint on a flea market can make a huge improvement, but the addition of wallpaper can transform it into a fun or elegant piece. It’s also a great way to use up some leftover wallpaper. It was not long ago when I revamped my furniture with some leftover wallpaper. So, I am going to tell you the steps I follow for how to upcycle furniture with wallpaper.

Get in touch with the professional carpenter of NoBroker and get your furniture revamped the way you want. Buy/Rent furniture on NoBroker of the best-in-class quality and at the lowest guaranteed prices.

How to upcycle furniture?

If you wish to know how to upcycle laminate furniture or how to upcycle melamine furniture or how to upcycle teak furniture, you'll need a few tools before you start wallpapering your furniture:

  • A pencil.

  • A measurement instrument

  • Scissors, a cutter, or a razor blade

  • Glue for wallpaper (if not using adhesive wallpaper)

  • A soft cloth or wallpaper hanging brush

Steps for upcycling wood furniture

Step 1: Prep the Surface

The possibilities are versatile when it comes to the kind of surfaces you can adorn with wallpaper. It's worth noting, though, that not all textures respond to wallpaper in the same manner. Either choose a wallpaper that will stick well to the surface or adjust the texture to your wallpaper of choice.

Step 2: Measure and Cut

By measuring the area you want to wallpaper, you can avoid a sticky mess and a lot of time. Keep in mind how you want the finished furniture to look.

Step 3: Apply and Smooth Out Air Bubbles

After you've trimmed out your wallpaper pieces, all that's left is to paste them together. After the wallpaper has been installed, smooth out any air bubbles with a soft cloth or a wallpaper brush until it is completely smooth. You might also use a straight edge, such as a spatula or a credit card, to push bubbles out.

Step 4: Trim to Perfection

You may very well be done wallpapering your furniture at this point, but if any edges are hanging off or appear uneven, now is the time to trim them off with a sharp knife or utility blade.

These are the steps I generally follow for upcycling old furniture that I have at my place. I hope they help you too.
