I travel a lot, so I believe that God is with me all the time in my best and my worst. I follow a routine to meditate and pray to the Lord daily. I wake up at 6 AM and start by praying. Since I travel, I like to carry a travel prayer rug with me. A travel prayer rug is a type of rug which you can sit on while praying. So, how to use a prayer rug? Prayer mats are available in different fabrics such as wool, cotton, or silk. Now, if you check Muslim houses you will see beautiful rugs laid across the house. Its’ a tradition we follow. Mostly cottons or silk rugs are used for praying.

Talking about pocket prayer mat, they are also made up of cotton. The travel sized prayer mats also come in beautiful geometric designs. I have a rug which has a print of Mihrab. Mihrab design is a representation of a wall mosque which is nearest to Mecca, the holy place where Prophet Muhammad was born.

Now, let me answer the question how to use a prayer rug.

Living in India I face the North side, since the Kabba in Mecca is located in the Northern direction. In the USA the direction changes to south since the Kabba in Mecca is located towards the Southern direction of the USA. 

After praying I fold the rug and keep it away for next use. My father taught me to keep the rug where it is supposed to be as soon as the prayer is over. Till today I follow this rule every day.
