When I was in Delhi before lockdown, I lived on cola and chips most of the time. And of course Maggi. It was super unhealthy but that was that. Since I was just relying on this food, I had hoarded a lot of plastic bottles and for some reason I didn’t throw them away. I thought I would do something creative with them, you know I always had a knack for it. And then in March 2020 nationwide lockdown happened which honestly gave me a lot of time on my hands. I thought of channelising my energy in better things and started wondering how to use plastic bottles for decoration. So after much research I did 3 things with them. I am going to enlist them for you here.

Creative Recycling Ideas Plastic Bottles

I decided to make a pen/pencil holder because my stationery was scattered everywhere most of the time. Next, I used them as planters and thirdly, I turned them into cute containers to keep spices and grains (because, I started cooking food for myself finally). Here is how I did it:

Pen/ Pencil Holder

I liked minions quite a lot growing up. I would admit that I watched those movies during lockdown just to feel good. So, my pen holder had to be a minion memoir. I simply took two bottles of cola and cut them in half. One half of the bottle was just the body while the second half was the head. I painted the bottle and made cute minion faces.

Planters

This one I believe is common but I think my love for plants and greenery came to its peak when I made those planters all by myself from plastic bottles. I simply cut off the top of the bottle and made a few holes at the bottom. My first plant was a money plant, the easiest of all. I have named it kiddo btw and kiddo is not a kiddo anymore :)

Spice and Grains container

Next I know it is a little unconventional when it comes to how to use plastic bottles for decoration but I gave it a little twist. The spice and grain containers I made were from inverting the bottles upside down. I made a slide sort of thingy for grains to slide down as soon as I opened the bottle cap. To refill the bottle, I had made a lid which I attached to the bottle with a glue gun. I was too tired to paint them but you can go ahead with that.

These were a few ideas on how to use plastic bottles for decoration. I hope you like them.
