My CA friend helped me out in filing ITR last year and oh my God the amount of validations and OTP requirements was insane. I can tell you if you are new to this, it will overwhelm you. But look closely, this is a secure way to verify and get the excess tax paid back from the authorities. I am going to tell you how to validate bank account in income tax and why it is important.

How to e validate bank account in income tax?

Prerequisite: PAN linked to bank account

Steps:

  • Go to the e filing portal of Income Tax India

  • Login using your credentials

  • Go to ‘My Profile’ and select ‘My Bank Account’

  • Click on ‘Add Bank Account’ option

  • Enter details like account number, IFSC Code, branch name, account holder’s name, PAN details, mobile number,  etc.

  • After entering the details, click on ‘Validate’

It takes a few days for validation to come through. As per my experience it took around 10-12 days. This is pretty much all you need to know on how to validate bank account in income tax. I hope these details help you out.

It is important to file ITR and validate your bank account to get refunds. Trust me you’ll realise it when the account hits up with refund :P

Do give my answer a thumbs up and good luck getting validation :)
