How to wire a light switch and outlet together?

1) Take Note of Each Wire

There will probably be four wires in your outlet panel instead of three. The fourth wire makes it possible for the outlet to constantly receive electricity even while the switch is off. There will also be a white neutral wire, a plain ground wire, and two black wires. One is the hot wire, which supplies electricity, and the other is the loading wire. It links the switch to the object it operates, such as a light.

2) Inspect Each Wire

Switch your power switch on and thoroughly inspect each wire with a voltage tester for an electric charge to identify which one it is. A current that is flowing will be shown by the hot wire. Make sure there is no power present by turning your power switch back off before continuing. You can use electrical tapes to identify the hot wires. This is one of the main methods in switch outlet combo wiring.

3) Choose the Correct Screw Ends for Every Wire

The screw ends on your combo socket for switch outlets differ from those on a regular outlet. Black screw ends are used to wrap the black hot wire across. Put a loop in the black load wire and wrap it around the brass screw end. A silver screw that is supposed to hold the white neutral wire is located next to the brass screw end. Lastly, you need to wrap the ground wire around the green screw located at the base of the outlet.
