Hi Shikha. We decided to give our bathroom a new look. So, we went ahead with adding wood panelling to one of the walls. I can thus share the process you can follow to understand how to make a wooden bath panel. The first and foremost thing to prepare your surface by cleaning and fixing it. I will share the detailed steps below.
How to Put Wood on Bathroom Walls?
Here are the steps you can take:
Wall Preparation
Start by preparing your bathroom wall. Make sure it is clean and dry. Fill any cracks or imperfections on the wall using wall putty or filler.
If you use aqua wall panel slats, you’ll have to tank your wall with a tanking system. Tanking helps by creating a protective barrier that prevents water from reaching the surface beneath.
Remember that you will need a tanking system only with aqua panels for a wet area like the bathroom.
Tanking the Wall
Instead of a tanking system, you can also go for a waterproof membrane designed to be used in wet regions. You can use either sheet or liquid-applied membranes as well.
Membrane Application
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and apply the tanking system kit to the surface. This is performed using a brush, trowel or a roller. Pay attention to the corners, joints and seams.
Seal around pipes, fixtures and other penetrations with a waterproof silicone sealant.
Let the membrane dry as per the given time. Ensure there are no leaks before you apply the panels.
Trimming the Panels
You may be required to cut the panels for them to fit on the wall. Use a circular saw for full cuts. Measure the piece first and cut away any extra material.
Attach the Panels
Use grip panel adhesive to properly attach the panels to the wall. You should apply the adhesive to the full length of the panel on each raised edge on the back of the panel. Work from left to right and place the first panel with the tongue of the tongue and groove system to the right. Give them a firm press.
Repeat the method for the next panel. Apply a line of adhesive down the groove, of the tongue and groove system, on the back of the panel to ensure a secure and waterproof barrier.
I hope you now understand how to make a wooden bath panel.

Hey there. I am here to show you how to wood panel a bathroom. I did the wood panelling on my bathroom walls to give the space a new touch last week. Let me show you the whole process behind it.
How to Do Wood Paneling in Bathroom?
I am sharing the process of installing the reclaimed wood panels. If you choose the peel or slat panel ones, the method will be a bit different.
First comes preparing the walls. Use adhesive to stick your panels on before you mail them into place. The adhesive works on dry, sound walls which are not wallpapered.
The walls where you are going to install the panels should have the following characteristics:
Properly cleaned, using a dry cloth to remove dust and debris.
Sturdy to support the weight of the panels.
Walls must be away from any switch plates and outlet covers.
Walls must be away from trim around the windows and doors. You should remove the skirting boards and trim before you begin.
Leave the panels in the bathroom for a few days to let them get familiar with the temperature levels in the space.
Paint the joints between the panels to hide them. Either paint or stain the walls in a colour close to the wood sheets before you install them.
Lay out the sheets on the floor before you cut the panel to get a preview. After you are happy with the design of your wood panelling, begin applying them.
Take a caulk gun with panel adhesive and apply adhesive on the wall with a 10-inch gap.
Place your panels on the wall against the area where you applied the adhesive. Pull the panels away a little and then push them back in place using a rolling pin.
Drive in nails at the top of the panel and place skirting boards back to keep the bottom in place.
This is all about how to wood panel a bathroom. I hope it helps.
