Hey friend, I have recently placed Annapurna Devi God in my house. I will share all the information I know about the placement and how to worship Devi as well. Annapurna Puja is observed with excitement and devotion in many parts of India. The Annapurna Puja takes place in Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month according to the Hindu calendar. The puja is mostly observed and conducted by women.

Placement of Annapurna Devi

The placement of Annapurna Devi should be either the kitchen or the mandir in your home. I have placed the Devi in the Northeast direction of my kitchen. The northeast direction has been recommended to me by pandits.

How to worship lord Annapurna Devi at home
  • The first step is taking a bath early in the morning on the day of the Annapurna puja.

  • On the day of the puja, most people observe fast during the day.

  • Prepare and place the idol or picture of the Devi. You can install a puja mandap if you'd like.

  • Have the prasad ready on a clean plate.

  • Worship Annapurna Devi God by reciting her thousand names and her one hundred and eight names.

  • You can chant The Sri Annapurna Ashtakam composed by Shankaracharya.

  • Chant the prayer and conduct the puja.

  • Once the puja is over you can break your fast.

I hope my answer about Annapurna Devi God is helpful. May you be blessed.

How often have our elders told us not to squander food since doing so is disrespectful to the gods? A lot of times because as a kid I remember, I used to waste a lot of food. But my mothers always used to say that the food we eat every day provides nourishment that eventually promotes growth and development in addition to satisfying our taste buds. The food that we consume every day is connected to a deity named Annapurna. So, when I bought my house, I installed an Annapurna idol at home. I will tell you everything I know about Annapurna Devi’s pooja.

How to place Annapurna Devi at home?

Miss Shrishti has already explained how to keep Annapurna Devi at home. However, I will reiterate. Either your home's mandir or kitchen should be where you place Annapurna Devi. The Devi is situated in my kitchen's northeast corner. Pandits have advised me to turn toward the northeast. On the day of the Annapurna puja, the first step is to take a bath early in the morning.

In Hinduism, Annapurna Devi is revered as the goddess of sustenance and food. She is the goddess who provides food for all earthly life. The word Annapurna itself means "one who provides enough food," with Anna standing for "food" or "grain" and poorna meaning "one who is complete." We are able to eat and live in this world thanks to Annapurna Devi's blessings. Goddess Annapurna is thought to be an avatar of goddess Parvati, the bride of Lord Shiva and one of the numerous types of shakti. She not only gives nutrition for the physical body but also for the soul in terms of enlightenment and energy to gain wisdom and knowledge.

Annapurna Devi pooja at home

Now that you know where to keep Annapurna Devi at home, I will tell you about Annapurna Devi pooja and its rituals. Worshipers lavishly and elegantly commemorate Annapurna Jayanti. They perform puja in their home to honour the Devi in West Bengal. Following all the rituals, repeating the mantras, and having flowers, different fruits, and especially food grains are all part of the pooja. It is thought that the goddess Parvati has taken the form of Annapurna Devi. Full women are known to keep up a fast for the entire day and they don't break the fast and take food till the pooja is done. She can be rewarded with food grains, fresh fruits, and rice for five days.

The rituals for the Pooja of Annapurna idol at home

Here are some rituals you can practise:

  • Build a shallow mandap and instal the Annapurna goddess idol inside.

  • The Devi is honoured with "shodashopachara" on Annapurna Jayanti, and devotees give the goddess a beautiful saree and jewellery.

  • "Annabhishekham" is offered by the worshippers.

  • Women are reputed to observe a severe fast in order to receive Annapurna Devi's blessings.

  • Only at dusk, following the completion of the pooja and Annapurna worship, may the fast be broken.

  • Chanting the "Annapurna Devi ashtakam" is advised since it is thought to be lucky and fortunate, especially on Annapurna Jayanti.

I hope I was able to share everything I know about the pooja of Annapurna idol at home.
