Q.

I JUST BROUGHT A FLAT IN VASAI, AND AFTER 2 MONTHS THERE ARE NEW COMMITTEE ELECTIONS (AGM-5). THE MEMBERS SAY I CANNOT STAND FOR ELECTIONS AS ONE NEEDS TO BE A COMMITTEE MEMBER FOR 2 YEARS. IS THIS TRUE? CAN I TAKE PART IN THE FORTHCOMING SOCIETY NEW COMMITTEE ELECTIONS?

You can stand for committee election even if you have not been a member for the last two years. There is no such rule that can restrict you. You can ask the committee members to show you the rule book.

A person will not be allowed to stand for election if

  • His/her moral behaviour is not good

  • If the applicant fails to furnish the expenditure records

  • In the case whether it is noted that he/she does not make payments in time or other such similar cases
